Through this comprehensive hands‐on workshop, learn how to apply bowl‐from‐a‐board techniques to make turned pieces from a single square board. Topics will include safety considerations, wood selection, design considerations, some simple math, cutting concentric rings using scroll or band saw, layering the rings, tool selection, sharpening, mounting options, turning techniques, and finishing.

Each participant will have the opportunity to turn one simple and one more complex bowl‐from‐a‐board during the workshop. As time permits, various alternative designs, from functional to decorative, may be demonstrated and/or discussed in addition to the hands‐on class projects.

This is a two day workshop. Each day will begin at 9:00 am and end at around 4:00 pm. The workshop will be held at Intersections Wood Collaborative at 299 10th Street E., Owen Sound.

Basic woodturning skills required
