Wood Symposium 2026

Friday, October 16 4:00 PM - Sun October 18, 2026 2:00 PM
Cost: $350 (General Admission)

WOOD SYMPOSIUM 2026 will take place October 16-18 in and around Owen Sound, Ontario, with additional pre- and post-conference workshops extending the experience.

Hosted by the Intersections Wood Collaborative (IWC) — a non-profit inspired by the legacy of world-renowned woodworker, artist, and environmentalist Stephen Hogbin (1942-2022) — the symposium brings together 15 accomplished presenters from Canada and the United States for lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on learning. Sessions span the full breadth of the craft, from technical woodturning techniques like multi-axis disc lathe work and hand-chased threads, to green woodworking, spoon carving, bent lamination, and basketmaking, alongside explorations of wood's historical, poetic, and cultural significance. Presenters include both emerging and internationally recognized names in woodworking and woodturning.

Taking place across four venues — Grey Roots Museum, Harmony Arts Centre, Grey Gallery, and Intersections Wood Collaborative — the Symposium also features a gallery exhibition of registrants' work, vendor displays, a visit to the historic Grey Roots Wood Shop, a guided tour of the Grey Sauble Conservation Arboretum, and an evening banquet. Attendees will have rich opportunities to connect with local, national, and international woodworkers and woodturners. Registration is open now at www.intersectionswoodcollaborative.org
