
SEWING NOVICE - TOOL CARRY BAG
If you have taken the Get to Know Your Sewing Machine workshop, or have a basic familiarity with your sewing machine and want to learn more, this next-steps sewing workshop is for you! Bring materials (listed below) and practice your sewing skills while making this useful and sturdy tool carry bag. We will focus on measuring, layout and cutting, “bagging out,” topstitching, and more. DATES & TIMES SAT. MAY 27, 10 - 4PM YOUR TUTOR Patricia Campbell. In another life, Patricia was a full-time costumer for some of the big Canadian theatre companies, including the Canadian Stage Company, the Canadian Opera Company, LivEnt and Mirvish, where she made costumes for shows such as The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Ragtime and Mamma Mia. Since that time, she has been an instructor at Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo. She has kept up her professional-level sewing skills over the years and is now the owner and operator of Sydenham Sewing and Alterations based in Chatsworth. WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING Materials required: · 1 metre of canvas, strong denim or a strong upholstery fabric. · ½ metre of a poly-cotton or cotton (print or solid) fabric to match the above. · 1 spool of matching thread (preferably Gutermann) · Measuring tape, yard stick or quilting ruler; chalk; fabric scissors; straight pins (GB Arts has a supply of these as well). · Your sewing machine with a bobbin and #16 needle or Jeans needle.
