RUG HOOKING - BEGINNER

Saturday, March 8, 2025 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Cost: $75

In this hands-on workshop the participant will become familiar with the basic tools: hooking hoops, various size and style of hooks, wool strip cutters and rug backings such as linen and rug warp. In addition you will learn how to create and transfer your own patterns and where to access various rug hooking resources and suppliers. Participants will be provided with a hoop, hook and wool strips. As we learn the basic method, we will work on a simple hooked shape that, when finished, can be a trivet or wall hanging. Rug hooking is both a craft and an ancient art form that has been around for centuries and one that is growing in popularity because it is easy, satisfying, meditative, creative, colourful and full of personal expression. Expect to fall in love with this folk art craft and become one of the thousands of rug hooking fanatics. The workshop includes: rug hook (yours to keep), and Monk’s cloth for one project and a hoop to work on. We will supply yardage for the project and backing cloth.
