Cost: $80

SAT MAY 2nd, 1-4pm Join us at GB Arts for a fun, 3-hour workshop where you’ll explore the art of raw-edge appliqué, a simple way to add shapes and patterns to your fabric projects. With raw-edge appliqué the cut edge of the fabric is exposed but secured with machine stitching. In this workshop you’ll learn the basics raw-edge appliqué, receive guidance in choosing fabrics and colour palettes, and create a fabric picture ready to hang on your wall. All materials are provided. Some experience using a sewing machine is suggested. Participants will create their own fabric art, based on a supplied template, and will leave with the skills and inspiration to continue experimenting with the endless possibilities of this style of appliqué. YOUR TUTOR Kelly Hill is an award-winning book designer with over 25 years of experience in the publishing industry. She is the author and illustrator of 4 board books for children, Anne’s Colors, Anne’s Numbers, Anne’s Alphabet and Anne’s Feelings, all based on Anne of Green Gables. To create the illustrations in these books, Kelly sewed and embroidered words and pictures on fabric, using a raw-edge machine appliqué technique. Anne’s Colors was chosen to be part of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which gifts free books to children. Kelly lives near Markdale with her family.
