INTRO TO GELLI PLATE PRINTING
Gelli plate printing is beginner-friendly, versatile, and fun, with lots of room for exploration. In this workshop we’ll focus on specific techniques like resists, stencils, and transfers. Using a variety of pigments and mediums to apply to your plate you will learn how to pull a perfect print. Following the lesson participants will have time to work on their own ideas with help from your instructor Leah Springate. This workshop is meant as a springboard for your own experimentation with this creative tool. DATES & TIMES SUN MAR 9th 9:30am to 12:30pm YOUR TUTOR Leah Springate. Leah is a printmaker and book designer now living in Owen Sound. She graduated with honours from the Ontario College of Art where she specialized in Printmaking and Book Arts. After a 20-year career designing books at Penguin Random House Canada, she left to focus on producing her own work as co-proprietor of Mammoth Hall Press, a private printmaking and design studio. She has worked in many printmaking media including linocut and woodcut, etching and drypoint, screen-printing, cyanotype, and letterpress.
