Don't miss this rare opportunity to use the Columbian Iron Hand Press. Print a letterpress poster with your personal mantra or verse. In this 2-hour workshop students will learn basic typesetting techniques to create an edition of three 8x10 poster prints. Using type from Tim's collection (The Colour Jar), each participant will learn how to properly compose, lock-up, and print a form on the impressive Columbian press. Bring quotes, jokes, words of wisdom, or your favourite text to class to see in print. Make it short and sweet: keep text within 8 words or about 60 letters. DATES & TIMES Saturday May 17th 12:30–2:30pm YOUR TUTOR Timothy Dyck. Timothy was born in Manitoba but has lived in the US, Montreal, and now Ontario for the last. 20 years. He studied undergraduate art in Indiana and completed a master’s degree in printmaking and book arts at Concordia University in 1996. Together with his wife Barb, he runs The Colour Jar in Durham, an art supply store, frame shop, and bookbindery. He has taught many classes on prints and binding. His interests include games, graphic novels, and local food.
