Chainsaw Sculpting Carving This is one of the noisiest forms of artistic expression. Chainsaw carving is not unlike carving with stone, it is a reductive modelling technique. In this introductory course you will learn; how to safely carve forms from a block of solid wood, proper saw handling, safety concerns and the proper sequence of cuts that will lead to your first successful chainsaw sculpture. Techniques for detailing and finishing will complete the day. This is a perfect course for anyone with chainsaw experience that would like to take them in a new creative direction. DATES & TIMES SAT JUNE 13th, 9:30 - 4pm YOUR TUTOR Gerald Guenkel is a certified chainsaw safety teacher and chainsaw artist. He has extensive portfolio of chainsaw sculptures and is knowledgable in a range of carving styles. WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING A working chainsaw with a carving bar (quarter or dime bar) installed. Help / recommendations can be made available for potential bars / chains. Please email info@gbarts.ca for an info sheet. Both gas and battery chainsaws are welcome at the course.
