2026 River District Board of Management Election
Elections for the River District Board of Management (RDBM) take place every four years. In the 2026 RDBM Election, eligible Members will be able to vote by paper ballot for eight (8) Board Directors.
The RDBM Election will be held on Monday, November 9th between 8:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers (808 2nd Avenue East). An Advance Voting Day will also be held on Saturday, November 7th between 3:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
If you are a property owner or tenant of a qualifying commercial property and would like to vote in the election, you will need to confirm your eligibility and arrange to be added to the Voters’ List by contacting the River District Election Manager, Staci Landry, by email at riverdistrictelection@owensound.ca or by phone at 519-376-4440 ext. 1235.
To be added to the Voters’ List, Members must complete Form RD15 – Application to Amend Voters’ List and provide satisfactory identification in accordance with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing list of “Acceptable Documents for Voter Identification”. The identification provided must match the Member’s qualifying address. If the Member does not have satisfactory identification, then they must complete and submit Form RD19 – Declaration of Identity. Members will receive their Voter Information Card in person after being added to the Voters’ List.
Members can also be added to the Voters’ List on Advance Voting Day or Voting Day and proceed to vote immediately following approval. However, being added to the Voters’ List in advance will help make the voting process faster and more efficient.
If a Member is a legal entity, it is entitled to one vote regardless of the number of shareholders or partners that the Member has. The legal entity must nominate in writing one delegate to vote on its behalf by completing Form RD14 – Nomination of Delegate on Behalf of Corporation. The delegate must submit the completed form to the Election Manager or Assistant Election Officer at the time of voting.
